nursery cook
Working hours
- part-time | Permanent
Responsibility
- providing meals for nursery children, staff and for special functions when required
- following strict special diet procedures and ensuring all children with specific dietary needs are catered for at all times
- following HACCP guidelines, food safety procedures and preventing cross contamination of foodstuffs in the kitchen
- using the Safer Food, Better Business legislation as instructed by the local Environmental Health
- ensure food is served at the correct temperatures as directed by food safety guidelines, and on time for the children’s mealtimes
- working in partnership with the management team to devise healthy and nutritious rotating menus suitable for all children following current guidelines and legislation
- monitor and record in writing all temperatures in fridges, freezers and deliveries
- support room staff by removing used dishes and cutlery and either washing up or using the dishwasher
Requirements
- you would ideally hold a qualification in culinary skills
- you would ideally have understanding and certificates with level 2 food hygiene
- would be able to provide 3 references, one being the most present employer
- would ideally have 1 years experience working in an early years setting or providing food for children
- knowledgeable with regards to Health and Safety Legislation and aware of own responsibilities within the law
- excellent knowledge of the HACCP, Safer Food Better Business and Environmental Health regulations
- A commitment to the welfare and safeguarding children requirements and the ability to work in a way which promotes children’s welfare at all times
