Responsibility

  • typical clients include motorboat and train manufacturers, construction companies, engineers and product designers
  • the role sometimes involves working on prototypes and bespoke designs using various metals, suiting anyone who enjoys finding creative solutions
  • you will learn how to use the appropriate tools, equipment and techniques to shape and form metal materials
  • you will be shown how to carry out quality checks on completed work
  • working alongside a very talented team, you will be learning all aspects of Metal Fabrication under the watchful eye of a highly experienced mentor who will assist you in your Apprenticeship journey
  • you will be taught how to plan and prepare for your day ahead, including reading and interpreting engineering drawings, and checking that materials conform to the grades, dimensions and thicknesses required for the projects you are tasked with
  • in time, the successful candidate will be trained to weld with precision, operating TIG and MIG machinery and spot welding equipment
  • you will learn how to weld to schematics and plans, interpreting architectural drawings under the supervision of the Head of Fabrication
