Responsibility
- reception of patients
- recording of treatment including charting form the dentist’s instructions and other associated clerical work
- preparation of filling materials, impression materials, instruments and equipment

- first aid treatments for collapse e.g. coronary attack, fainting, bleeding tooth socket, epilepsy etc
- assisting at preparation for investigation, e.g. x-ray procedures, blood tests and bacteriological tests
- recognise and report behaviour that undermines equality under practice policy
- be consciously aware of own behaviour and encourage the same behaviour in colleagues
- triage of patients attending for emergency treatment
- acknowledge others different perspectives and recognise the diverse needs and experiences of everyone they come into contact with

- care and minor maintenance of equipment such as high-speed drills
- assisting dental staff with surgical procedures when necessary including barrier care
- act in ways that support equality and diversity and recognise the importance of people’s rights in accordance with legislation, policies, procedures and good practice
- assisting in the training of trainee dental nurses
- valuing people as individuals and treating every one with dignity and respect, consideration without prejudice, respecting diversity and recognising peoples expressed beliefs, preferences and choices in working with others and delivering appropriate services

- part-time hours: 40 per week
- maintaining stock levels in surgery and checking expiry dates. Re-ordering stocks when required
- providing patients with pre and post-operative instructions and information prior to safely discharging the patient following, for example, minor oral surgery, and ensuring the instructions are understood
- all employees have a duty to take reasonable care to avoid injury to themselves or to others and to co-operate with the practice in meeting its statutory requirements
- participate in audit where appropriate
