- to attend out of working hours activities, e.g. training, monthly staff meetings, parents evening, fundraising events etc
- ensuring the nursery offers an environment which reflects the cultural diversity of all children
- to contribute to a programme of activities that meet the individual needs and interests of children in your area in conjunction with other team members
- follow Observation, Planning and Assessment Framework within the Muddy Nurseries Group
- work alongside the Manager and staff team to ensure that the nursery’s philosophy is fulfilled
- to keep records of your key children’s development and learning journeys and share this with parents, carers and other key adults in the child’s life
- reflect on daily practise and identify areas for continuous improvement
- read, understand and adhere to all policies and procedures relevant to your role as deemed appropriate by the Manager
- build and maintain effective partnerships with parents
- recording accidents in the accident book. Ensure the Duty Manager has initialled the report before the parent receives it
- to be the key person for a designated group of children
- ensure someone known and agreed by the nursery and parent collects the child
- ensure all children are signed in and out on registers daily, absence is accounted for and accident, incidents and medications are all signed
- to be flexible with the working practices of the nursery. Be prepared to help where needed, including to undertake certain domestic jobs within the nursery, e.g. preparation of snack meals, cleansing of equipment etc
- record all accidents, incidents and medications on the appropriate forms
- promoting independence of the children and encouraging a can do attitude
- respond to, and report health and safety issues as and when they arise
- to respect the confidentiality of all information received
- carrying out health and safety checks in line with Company Policy
- adhere to all Company policies and procedures
- ensure a poorly child is kept calm and warm and management is notified immediately
- have awareness and support any medical background or needs of the children in your care
- ensuring records and information is up to date; Child records, medical, emergency contacts and learning journals
- reinforce positive behaviour and model good practice so the children feel valued, begin to understand emotions and respect each other
- mentor and train staff to a high quality standard when new staff join the team/existing staff require support
- the preparation and completion of activities to suit each individual child’s stage of development and interests
- responsible for duties associated with the nursery playroom , such as maintaining children’s records and any other duties as reasonably requested
