production engineer
Working hours
- full-time
Responsibility
- maintain existing program issue control and integrity by working alongside the milling section supervisors and the quality department staff
- maintain program and tooling records for all components produced
- investigate production issues to ensure limited interruptions to production output
- work with the design department to provide input on fixture design and optimum machining strategies for new & existing products
- liaise with suppliers to investigate/trial new tooling products to help improve production lead-times and shift yields
- produce offline programs using CAMWorks for our Fanuc controlled horizontal milling machines. This will be to machine new and existing products
- raise purchase requisitions for new tooling and associated products
- to be aware of health and safety legislation as it applies in the workplace
Requirements
- previous off-line programming experience
- solid engineering background in machining & manufacturing
- experience in CNC milling – 3 & 4 axis
- experience with Fanuc controlled machines
- ability to read and understand technical drawing and standards with a good knowledge of GD&T
- able to construct machining strategies for manufactured components
- A good understanding of materials, tooling selection and machining speeds & feeds
- able to carry out measurement and inspection techniques using basic metrology equipment
