Responsibility
- lead and manage the small finance team, providing guidance, support and direction to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
- oversee the preparation of financial statements, management accounts, budgets and forecasts in accordance with UK accounting standards and company policies
- manage the day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management and weekly payroll
- provide financial analysis and recommendations to support strategic/operational decision-making and business planning
- collaborate with other departments to ensure the smooth operation of financial processes and systems
- manage relationships with external suppliers, clients, auditors, tax advisors and other financial service providers
- participate in the development and implementation of company-wide financial policies and procedures
- work with the companies external accountant to ensure compliance with all UK tax and regulatory requirements, including VAT, payroll taxes and corporate income tax
Requirements
- professional qualification such as ACCA, ACA or CIMA preferred but time served experience/CV will be considered
- proven experience as a Financial Controller, Finance Manager or similar role, ideally in a similar sized company
- experience in the construction industry advantageous
- good knowledge of UK accounting standards and regulations
- experience managing and leading finance teams
- excellent analytical, problem-solving and strategic thinking skills
- excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- strong attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
