Responsibility
safely and efficiently operate heavy goods vehicles, such as tractor-trailers or delivery trucks, to transport pre-loaded goods to designated locations
plan and execute delivery routes, taking into consideration traffic conditions, load size, and customer requirements
adhere to all traffic laws, regulations, and company policies to maintain a high level of safety on the road
coordinate with the warehouse team to ensure accurate loading and secure packaging of the goods
maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, fuel consumption, and other relevant information
communicate with dispatchers, warehouse staff, and customers to coordinate delivery schedules and resolve any issues that may arise during transportation
provide exceptional customer service by delivering goods on time and in good condition while maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor
conduct routine inspections of the vehicle before and after each trip to ensure proper functionality and report any maintenance or repair needs
Requirements
valid HGV driver's license with a clean driving record
proven experience as an HGV Driver, with a minimum of 3 years of commercial driving experience
knowledge of and compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and safety standards in accordance with UK law
strong understanding of vehicle mechanics and the ability to perform basic maintenance tasks
excellent navigation skills and the ability to read and interpret maps and GPS systems
physical stamina and ability to handle the physical demands of the job, including lifting and loading/unloading heavy cargo
strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of individuals, including dispatchers, customers, and colleagues
attention to detail and a commitment to following protocols and procedures
