Responsibility
- safely and efficiently operate heavy goods vehicles, such as tractor-trailers or delivery trucks, to transport pre-loaded goods to designated locations
- plan and execute delivery routes, taking into consideration traffic conditions, load size, and customer requirements
- adhere to all traffic laws, regulations, and company policies to maintain a high level of safety on the road
- coordinate with the warehouse team to ensure accurate loading and secure packaging of the goods
- maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, fuel consumption, and other relevant information
- communicate with dispatchers, warehouse staff, and customers to coordinate delivery schedules and resolve any issues that may arise during transportation
- provide exceptional customer service by delivering goods on time and in good condition while maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor
- conduct routine inspections of the vehicle before and after each trip to ensure proper functionality and report any maintenance or repair needs
Requirements
- valid HGV driver's license with a clean driving record
- proven experience as an HGV Driver, with a minimum of 3 years of commercial driving experience
- knowledge of and compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and safety standards in accordance with UK law
- strong understanding of vehicle mechanics and the ability to perform basic maintenance tasks
- excellent navigation skills and the ability to read and interpret maps and GPS systems
- physical stamina and ability to handle the physical demands of the job, including lifting and loading/unloading heavy cargo
- strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of individuals, including dispatchers, customers, and colleagues
- attention to detail and a commitment to following protocols and procedures
