Responsibility

  • diagnose problems with automobile engines, transmissions and related systems
  • be familiar with the common symptoms of vehicle malfunctions and be able to conduct basic tests to determine their source
  • diagnose problems in electrical, cooling and heating systems
  • understand the theories behind the internal combustion engine and how it works with the other systems in a modern automobile
  • perform basic maintenance on vehicles
  • inspect and diagnose issues in brakes, steering and suspensions
  • inspect brake lines and hoses for leaks and damage
  • tune carburetors, fuel injectors and ignition systems to ensure proper operation
