Responsibility

  • to promote community involvement as well as in house activities
  • to promote proactive and positive behaviour management
  • provide a respectful, accepting and tolerant environment that our residents can thrive in; ensure that their needs are met, and their dignity and privacy are maintained at all times

  • to encourage but support residents to independently complete day to day tasks such as cooking, personal care and as identified in agreed support plans

  • to contribute to the daily running of the house; you will especially be expected to be involved in cleaning of communal areas, cooking, supporting shopping trips and general household maintenance while also encouraging the residents to build up their own abilities and experience in these areas
  • to be aware of the health, hygiene and safety measures of the home, ensuring that all duties are carried out in a manner that minimises risk to yourself and others living and working in the home

Requirements

  • good interpersonal skills and possess a caring and compassionate nature who wants to help others
  • enthusiastic and Self- motivated to learn and undertake a variety of tasks as per your job description
  • to undertake and attend mandatory training sessions as per your contract
  • to be able to work well as part of a team and well on own initiative
  • able to process, record and pass on clear information where applicable
  • able to maintain confidentiality
  • you will preferably have past experience of working with people with learning disabilities, however this is not essential as full training will be provided
  • able to prioritise workload when working independently
