Responsibility
- conduct detailed take offs and produce bills of quantities on projects for scheduling cost estimates
- arrange for enquiries for current cost estimates of materials within a range of the companies portfolio of suppliers
- identify technical problems in design and determine suitable solutions that are compliant with UK building regulations
- follow up and monitor progress of quotations sent to customers
- produce accurate fixed price quotations in accordance with the companies in house procedures including accurate estimates of material, labour, site plant and equipment and sub contracted services
- collaborate regularly with the design team and customer to understand client requirements and where appropriate to offer design modifications to achieve cost savings
Requirements
- A relevant qualification in construction activities, quantity surveying or a similar field is desirable but not essential
- proven experience in the cost estimation of window, door and curtain walling contracts within construction is essential
- ability to read drawings and relate to tender documentation
- familiarity of understanding the tender process and the importance of studying associated documentation
- enthusiastic, professional and with excellent analytical skills including an attention to detail
- ability to work independently and to meet project tender deadlines
- estimating: 3 years
Contract type
- standard office hours 08.45 to 5.30pm
- this position is full time, permanent, Office based in Halesowen West Midlands, Salary Circa £30 to £35,000 dependent on experience, offering a Company Auto Enrolment Pension Scheme with 28 days holiday including statutory bank holidays
- the candidate will be responsible for the accurate production of contractual estimates for the supply and installation of bespoke aluminium doors, windows, curtain walling and pressed metal products generally in the commercial sector
- this will involve the scheduling of products required from Architects drawings and customers tender documents and utilisation of building regulations where appropriate
