SECOND CHANCE HEADWAY CENTRE is looking for employees for positions:

support worker

Working hours

  • permanent

Responsibility

  • an opportunity has arisen to work in our Connections Hub as well as at the main centre
  • support and training will be provided by our MDT
  • to play an active role in the delivery of support , advice and signposting in our drop in service
  • to act as key worker and advocate for certain designated service users, liaising closely with other members of staff
  • to assist in the development of service users’ individual and group programmes, helping them to relearn old skills which have been lost as result of a brain injury, or acquire new skills to help minimise the impact of the injury
  • this is a diverse and challenging role working with individuals with brain and their families, running support groups, liaising with statutory, health and third sector services and developing your ability to work autonomously
  • responsible to: Clinical Manager
  • hours: 21 – 35 hours

Requirements

  • excellent interpersonal skills and able to communicate effectively
  • good practical skills
  • desired - previous experience of working with people with brain injuries or hidden disabilities, NVQ 1- 2 care/rehabilitation or equivalent – but other skills, qualifications, experiences etc. will be considered
  • ability to work in a team and use own initiative
  • an inquiring and creative mind
  • problem solving and use of critical thinking
  • ability to maintain professional boundaries
