- teach a class of young people, and ensure that planning, preparation, recording, assessment and reporting meet their varying learning and social needs
- provide the highest standards of professional practice and safeguarding
- keep accurate up to date records of assessments of learning and progress of each student and match against aspirational and appropriate targets
- work cohesively with key workers and the in house therapeutic team to follow care plans and assist in creating educational schemes of work
- in the course of your employment you may be required to carry out duties not directly covered by your job description that are deemed to be necessary for the smooth running of the school
Requirements
- experience of working within a Special Education School or in managing challenging behaviours would be an advantage
- have significant experience of using recognised and appropriate teaching / learning strategies / styles for this group of learners
- has a genuine desire to improve the life chances of our young people and to make a difference in people’s lives

- ability to teach a range of subjects with Maths specialism an advantage
- relevant knowledge and experience of pupils with ASD, SEMH and PDA profile
- understanding of the Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures
- employees are required to co-operate with management to enable the home to meet its own legal duties and to report any hazardous situations or defective equipment
- experience of managing a range of approaches to behaviour, including managing behaviours that challenge
