Responsibilities:- Process and maintain the purchase ledger, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of payments- Bank reconciliation- Prepare and process journal entries related to accounts payable transactions- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve any discrepancies or issues- Collaborate with the payroll department to ensure accurate recording of employee wages- Assist with tax compliance and HMRC Submissions of VAT and CIS- Receipt customer payments.- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, including account reconciliationRequirements:- Proven experience as a purchase ledger clerk or in a similar accounting role- Strong technical accounting skills, including knowledge of journal entries and account reconciliation- Familiarity with payroll processes and procedures- Proficient in using Sage accounting software and MS Office applications, particularly Excel- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record keeping- Strong analytical skills to identify discrepancies or irregularities in financial data- Ability to work independently and prioritise tasks effectively- Knowledge of tax regulations and compliance requirements is a plusPrevious experience in the construction industry would be an advantage but not essential.Note: This job description is intended to provide a general overview of the position.
