- ability to plumb structures accurately for proper drainage and alignment
- ability to read schematics and technical drawings accurately
- experience in building frameworks for roofs, including trusses and supports
- knowledge of masonry techniques is advantageous but not essential
- knowledge of welding techniques for roof repairs or installations involving metal components
