engineering manager

Responsibility

  • the ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, demonstrable leadership skills, and a proven history of managing high-performing engineering teams
  • lead and manage a team of engineers, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure the team's success
  • drive the execution of engineering projects, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time and within budget
  • the Engineering Manager will be responsible for leading the engineering team, overseeing the day-to-day operations of the engineering department, managing a team of engineers, and ensuring the successful delivery of engineering projects
  • oversee the safe workshop operations run by the workshop manager and the safe delivery of site work for our customers
  • ownership of continual improvement and implementation of engineering processes and best practices to improve efficiency and quality
  • collaborate with the project manager to define project requirements, scope, and timelines
  • resource management ensuring capacity and capability requirements of projects are met

Requirements

  • degree or equivalent in Engineering, preferably mechanical
  • H&S qualification e.g. IOSH, NEBOSH
  • considerable experience in engineering and in a management or leadership role
  • training or coaching qualification
  • proven history of successfully leading and managing engineering teams
  • experience working with pressurised and heated systems
  • experience of end-to-end engineering from design, design for manufacture, manufacture, commission, and release
  • strong technical background with expertise in mechanical design, underpinning principles of design and safety, application of the risk hierarchy, practical operations
