Responsibility

  • the Practice Nurse works independently using own initiative and is accountable for their own professional actions
  • attend practice and nurse meetings as and when required by the practice manager
  • actively participates in clinical and practice meetings
  • makes effective use of the clinical system by ensuring the consistent and accurate entering of data and use of Read Codes
  • ensure waste is disposed of in accordance with practice Infection control policy
  • takes a lead in the area of diabetes and cardiovascular disease, undertakes the establishment and running of disease management clinics and provides specialist nursing care for the patients or communities that the practice serves
  • ensure waste is disposed of in accordance with practice Infection control policy, and monitor other practice users for compliance with policy
  • makes recommendations and initiates raising of practice standards and service delivery

  • taking messages and passing on information
  • filing and retrieving paperwork
  • processing repeat prescriptions in accordance with practice guidelines
  • computer data entry/data allocation and collation; processing and recording information in accordance with practice procedures

Responsibility

  • greeting and assisting patients in person and by phone Booking and managing appointments, including care navigation/active signposting Processing repeat prescriptions and handling patient queries Registering new patients Processing hospital correspondence, reports, and incoming/outgoing mail Providing general administrative support Helping maintain a tidy and welcoming reception and waiting area
