Responsibility

  • demonstrating, supervising, and performing advanced laboratory testing, including monotonic and cyclic direct simple shear and triaxial testing and resonant column testing
  • performing laboratory testing, including classification, triaxial, direct simple shear and resonant column testing
  • providing training to junior personnel for execution and processing of the above test types
  • preparing samples for testing, ensuring samples are available to promote efficient progression of test programs
  • processing test data with the utmost diligence, taking care to ensure the data is as accurate as possible
  • ensuring test programming and tracking software is updated to allow accurate testing progress updates to be provided to clients
  • performing routine equipment calibrations and checks, whether planned or as requested
  • supervising and performing equipment calibrations and checks, as planned or otherwise required

Requirements

  • experience with performance of internal laboratory audits
  • the ability to operate within a team
  • A keen interest in geotechnical laboratory testing
  • experience in the execution and supervision of laboratory equipment calibrations and checks
  • experience with internal or external geotechnical laboratory accreditation processes
  • the ability to operate within a team, and at times be comfortable working under your own initiative
  • formal health & safety training
  • ideally, prior experience of working within a laboratory environment
