  • job Description Job Title: Medical Secretary Grade: 3A Responsible to: Medical Secretary Manager Role in practice: Operational with supervision of staff employed on a casual basis at Grade 1 Summary: The post holder has delegated responsibility for the delivery of an efficient, sensitive and confidential secretarial service ensuring that all aspects of medical, administrative and financial record-keeping are managed in a timely and accurate manner
  • main responsibilities: Managing the Electronic Referral System within the practice including selection of appropriate clinics, management of rejected referrals, booking appointments, liaison with patients and administration of work lists Transcribing and managing medical referral letters using the ERS where appropriate Facilitating urgent and 2 week rule referrals according to practice guidelines using electronic systems where appropriate and liaising with patients when required Liaising with hospital and practice staff, other agencies and patients, in accordance with Practice policies Typing medical reports, minutes of meetings and general correspondence as required Managing and responding to safeguarding requests for information for planned child protection meetings
