Requirements
level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare
experience managing or contributing to an Ofsted-rated Good or Outstanding children’s home
in-depth knowledge of the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, Quality Standards, and Ofsted inspection framework
proven experience supporting children with complex emotional and behavioural needs
strong understanding of trauma-informed care, PACE, and therapeutic parenting models
excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills
emotional resilience, patience, and empathy
at least 2 years’ experience working within a children’s home , including at least 1 year in a senior or supervisory role
Responsibility
leadership & Culture: Build, mentor, and inspire a dedicated care team, creating positive, reflective, and supportive environment
therapeutic Practice: Embed a trauma-informed, child-centred approach to care planning and daily practice
operational Management: Manage budgets, staffing, and resources effectively to maintain a safe and sustainable service
partnership Working: Develop strong relationships with local authorities, social workers, schools, therapists, parents and multi-agency partners
safeguarding: Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead, holding ultimate responsibility for the protection and welfare of every child in your care
quality & Compliance: Ensure full compliance with the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, Quality Standards, and Ofsted expectations. Lead all inspections and audits with confidence
