Responsibility

  • air Quality is a major issue affecting the health of UK society; this is reflected in its increasing prominence on national and local government agendas
  • we are now working in a hybrid way, with a mix of remote and office working
  • NPL’s Air Quality & Aerosol Metrology group manages several UK Air Quality Networks, delivers essential metrological support to UK and overseas industries and is a recognised science and technology leader in the air quality domain
  • we are now looking for a Senior Lab Manager / Quality Lead to work with the Air Quality & Aerosol Metrology Group Leader and management team to ensure that our laboratories and associated assets are fit for purpose and well maintained, our procedures and activities are compliant with regulations and our people are provided with the appropriate guidance and support to operate safely and securely to create long-term strategic value for the group and NPL
  • this will be dependent on the kind of role you do and part of the business you work in
  • coordination of, and responding to, data requests or surveys for NPL information systems, and educating staff in the operation of NPL systems will be important parts of the role
  • you will be a key part of the management team to ensure our work meet the requirements of ISO 9001 and ISO 17025 through NPL’s Quality Assurance, and Health and Safety Systems
  • whilst based within the Air Quality and Aerosol Metrology Group, where your day to day accountabilities lie, you will also provide the same Lab Management function to NPL’s Emissions and Atmospheric Metrology group, which is tackling climate change, with a focus on environmental measurement and metrology
