Responsibility
- ensuring that all English content created for China Reports are consistent and in line with Mintel style
- performing other on-demand translation tasks from Chinese to English
- collaborating with other translators and localisation specialists to resolve questions on terminology and language matters
- liaising effectively with analysts in different offices to discuss any unclear points
- post-editing machine translation of Mintel content from Simplified Chinese to English, ensuring that the target text is with maximal fluency and free of errors, literal translations and cumbersome expressions so the China content is readily comprehensible to English-speaking readers
- working as part of the team to ensure all departmental deadlines are met
- proofreading, editing, revising and finalising translated content including visual assets to ensure format and language accuracy
- reviewing freelancers' translation
Requirements
- heightened attention to detail
- A good command of CAT tools
- experience in translation and machine-translation-post-editing preferred
- comfortable with digital work on an in-house CMS
- good working knowledge of Microsoft packages
- ability to learn new localization tools/applications and publishing formats/ styles quickly
- ability to work effectively and be able to meet tight deadlines
- ability to analyse the macrostructure of the content and its overall coherence; reading critically and ask questions
