Responsibility
to label all opened foods with the date and as per good practice
to minimise food wastage
to prepare and plan meals so that residents have a choice of food/drinks/snacks
to prepare and present meals that looks appetising
to maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the kitchen and to follow the cleaning schedules including deep cleaning
to ensure that stock levels of all products, in the kitchen are maintained, and that all stock is in date, stored correctly and as required replacement orders are made
to assist with the cleaning of crockery, cutlery and other kitchen utensils, in line with the procedure
to ensure familiarity with the resident’s care plans regarding nutrition and hydration, and all related/relevant risk assessments
Requirements
good interpersonal and customer facing skills, able to empathise, maintain professionalism, display patience and politeness within a sometimes pressurised environment
to maintain a courteous approach to all colleagues, even when under pressure
A conscientious, flexible and ‘can do’ working style, able to take the initiative
confidence to deal with difficult situations and to know when appropriate to seek guidance from the home manager
proven drive and enthusiasm for food preparation and cooking, with a desire to update product knowledge and skill set, where required
good team working skills and ability to work with minimal supervision and own initiative
good oral communication skills. Ability to communicate with both residents/visitors and colleagues at all levels of seniority and liaise effectively with members of the multidisciplinary teams i.e. dieticians
