Responsibility

  • prepare and cook a variety of dishes, emphasizing homestyle cooking techniques and flavors, while adhering to our menu and quality standards
  • collaborate with the kitchen team to plan and develop new menu items that reflect our commitment to delicious, comfort food
  • ensure all food preparation and cooking processes meet health and safety guidelines and regulations
  • manage inventory and stock control, ensuring the availability of fresh ingredients and minimizing waste
  • maintain a clean and organized kitchen, following proper sanitation and hygiene practices
  • monitor food quality and presentation, consistently delivering dishes that meet or exceed customer expectations
  • coordinate with the front-of-house staff to ensure timely food service and an exceptional dining experience
  • train and supervise kitchen assistants or line cooks, providing guidance and support as needed

Requirements

  • proven experience as a Cook/Chef, preferably in a café or homestyle cooking environment
  • passion for homestyle cooking and a strong understanding of flavors and techniques associated with comfort food
  • knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations
  • ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment while maintaining high standards of quality
  • excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
  • effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with the kitchen team and interact with other staff members
  • flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays, to meet business demands
  • culinary qualifications or relevant training is a plus, but not required
