Requirements

  • qualification to NVQ Level 3 or higher in childcare with an in-depth knowledge of safeguarding and Early Years Foundation Stage
  • SENCO and first aid training are desirable but not mandatory
  • the Deputy must work with the Manager to ensure the nursery complies with the Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory Framework
  • must be Level 3 qualified in childcare education
  • excellent record in Early Years
  • excellent Early Years Practice
  • have post qualification experience in childcare
  • have experience in customer care

Responsibility

  • the Deputy must ensure the supply of appropriate resources
  • in consultation with the Manager and Early Years Professional , the Deputy must oversee the planning, organisation and smooth running of the children's activities in consultation with the group leaders
  • they must ensure the activities are appropriate for the children’s developmental stage, monitor their content, make assessments of their worth and that appropriate records are kept with regard to Ofsted
  • they must be supportive in the Manager's programmes for debt collecting and must maintain payment records honestly and accurately, and ensure the safety of money in their care
  • they are expected to attend relevant events, meetings and training courses when necessary
  • the staff and activities must achieve high quality teaching and learning within the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework. The Deputy must ensure the economic use of resources and materials
  • the Deputy must ensure staff abide by all Little Blossoms policies and procedures
  • the Deputy will be involved in the recruitment, induction, training, counselling and disciplining of staff
