Responsibility
- act as a source of information and advice to maintain site statutory compliance

- managing, maintaining, and developing HSE procedures and standards, ensuring that UK/EU EHS regulatory requirements are met
- undertake accident and investigations
- coaching and mentoring to enhance HSE performance
- set up and maintain health and safety reporting procedures
- providing EHS guidance and support to the office and to a cohort of remote workers
- ensure the correct PPE is worn
- promote Health and safety standards and behaviours by leading by example, coaching others and challenging unsafe practises and behaviour
- support the Management Team by creating, delivering, and monitoring of HSE plans which support the achievement of business objectives
- engage with employees to implement safer ways of working via tool box talks or similar
- provide Health & Safety training and inductions
- interpret, advise, and communicate at all levels on relevant changes / amendments to legislation and introduced standards, always ensuring compliance
- lead on ensuring the site OHSMS ISO 45001 certification is maintained
- build and develop effective, collaborative working relationships with stakeholders in order to influence the HSE agenda and activities
- work with employees to implement effective visual management
- implementing EHS Development path objectives and initiatives
- ensure compliance to all Health, Safety & Environmental policies & procedures
- coach / mentor employees to expected standards
Requirements
- hold a NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent in Occupational Health and Safety
- hold a NEBOSH Diploma, NCRQ or NVQ L5 in Occupational Health and Safety or Equivalent
- hold a recognised health and safety qualification such as NEBOSH General, NCRQ or NVQ Level 5 in occupational Health and Safety

- ideally come from the Food Manufacturing Industry
- good communicator with proven ability to train others

- ideally have experience within a Plastics Manufacturing Environment
- have a hands on approach to Safety
- experience working with Chemicals and strong understanding of COSHH. ATEX or DSEAR experience would also be beneficial but not essential
- ideally hold an environmental qualification such as IEMA or NEBOSH Environmental Management
- be pro-active and hands on
- have a hands on and pro-active approach to health and safety
- hold a full UK Driving License
- experience of Working at Height, Confined Spaces, Gas Safety and/or Lifting Operations would be an advantage
- ideally hold an ISO 9001 Auditing Qualification or Experience of implementing ISO
- managed and Maintained ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 accreditation
- extensive experience of environmental waste control and reduction
- able to travel nationally
- DSEAR experience is beneficial but not essential
- experience with undertaking audits and site inspections
- ideally hold an Environmental Management Qualification such as IEMA or NEBOSH
- minimum 5 years on the job experience
- pro-active approach to Health & Safety
- ISO9001 Auditor
- ideally have a new build construction background or similar
- experience of creating strong, positive HSE cultures
- this is a large site of 9 acres that you will have to cover on a daily basis
- willing to travel across the Northwest with some national travel when required
