workshop manager
Working hours
- full-time | Permanent
Responsibility
- to oversee and carry out pump servicing, maintenance, repairs, modifications, and improvements as required within the workshop
- arrange for suitable engineers to attend breakdowns keeping the customer informed throughout
- manage waste, material expenditure and employee overtime to ensure effective cost control within agreed budgets and to maximise sales and profitability
- to manage and control of goods in and goods out, working with other departmental functions to ensure smooth and safe operations
- ensure effective planning and scheduling to meet deadlines, prioritizing and managing time and resources effectively to maximise productivity and provides a quality service
- manage workshop and yard workspace and storage areas to ensure they are organised in a way that supports good productivity and are kept clean and tidy
- keep the Branch Manager/Assistant Branch Manager informed on matters including performance, safety, quality, and conduct
- ensure clear, open, and effective working relationships and channels of communication are maintained, working with managers, hire desk, fleet, and technical teams to ensure prompt resolution of issues and to help drive continuous improvement
Requirements
- diesel engineering or pump knowledge ideal, but any mechanical background would suit
- management experience - as a Manager, Foreman, Supervisor or Depot Manager
- ideally 3 years management experience, however our client would consider less given the combination of skills being asked for
- in particular soft skills would be beneficial, and to be confident with difficult conversations and resolving issues
- computer literate
- this would ideally suit someone who has been in the industry for many years and worked their way up to a management role in this time
