commercial manager

Working hours

  • full-time

Responsibility

  • ensuring the active selling of Museum tickets to ensure the delivery of the Business Plan targets
  • marketing, social media and audience development according to the current Audience Development Plan
  • working with the Director and Curator and Finance team to propose Annual Budgets for Board approval
  • identify and implement opportunities to maximise use of the museum facilities to deliver additional income as per the Business Plan
  • recruitment, training, and management of the Visitor Experience Team
  • manage all costs including staffing costs within budget in areas of responsibility
  • overall responsibility for building security, alarm management and administration
  • working with the Director and Curator, Board and Visitor Experience Manager to develop and implement a retail and shop stock strategy

Requirements

  • demonstrable experience in a similar role
  • demonstrable passion for archaeology, Museums, artefacts, and natural heritage
  • an understanding of the vision of Kilmartin Museum, the Redevelopment Project, and our aspirations for the future
  • awareness and understanding of the Accreditation Standard in Museums
  • experience of operating a tourism/visitor attraction including retail and catering aspects
  • knowledge and experience of Human Resources, recruitment and contracts procedures and law
  • experience of income generation in the charity/voluntary sector or similar
  • educated to degree level in a relevant subject

Education

  • the post holder will work closely with the Director and Curator who leads the Curatorial and Education Service Team to ensure that the curatorial, research and education objectives of the Museum are achieved and that the service is sustainable
