- duties & Responsibilities
- provide technical knowhow and drive best practices for manufacturability
- lead daily material review meetings with cross-functional teams
- the role is based in Slough with the possibility to work from home a couple of days per week
- responsible for coordination of all aspects of assigned processes; input, output, efficiencies and material flow
- review internal non-conformances and customer complaints and close in a timely manner
- creation and updating of standards and process instructions
- investigate problems to identify root causes and implement permanent corrective actions
- increasing the OEE KPI’s for productions areas
- prepare customer certification dossiers and document packs prior to release of product
- in this role, you will play a key role in researching, developing, and implementing advanced manufacturing technologies and applications across our business
- you will collaborate closely with the global operations team to identify and implement new engineered solutions that enhance our ability to deliver products to cost, time, and quality
- maintain KPI data/charts and monitor trends to identify improvement activities and reduce Cost of Poor Quality
- “Hands On” support for production functions
- carry out internal audits to the UK audit schedule and facilitate closure of non-conformities
- you will also participate in and lead projects with Engineering and R&D departments to investigate where alternative manufacturing processes can drive new value within John Crane’s product lines
- self-driven external research with other leading technology companies will be required to support business initiatives and an element of travel will be expected domestically & internationally
- support the NPD team with PFMEA's, risk assessments and control plans
- provide support in external audits
- prepare cost estimates to formulate schedules and coordinate and monitor assigned Production/CapEx projects
- create rejection documents/notifications and assist with concessions applications
- support and communicate effectively with internal stakeholders within JC Slough Operations and external suppliers as appropriate to provide technical support/assistance
- work closely with other Quality Engineers and Operational Departments in resolution of quality issues
- capture and communicate proposals for the application of 3D printing / Additive Manufacturing technologies and others for the purpose of cost reduction, improved performance, quality & process capability enhancement and safety improvements
- work on Continuous Improvement initiatives/projects as identified by the Quality Manager
- work closely with program managers to support and where required, take ownership of the delivery of key strategic 3D printing / Additive Manufacturing projects across John Crane operations where required
- manage key projects from conception through to completion. Ensure key milestones are hit and project delivers objectives on time and within cost
- provide other QA support as relevant for the role
- design, manufacture, test and implement 3D printing / Additive Manufacturing applications and solutions, such as bespoke tooling, to support flexibility and create value across internal operations
- you will play a critical role in ensuring that a company's products meet the required quality standards and that manufacturing processes are continuously improved
- where required, provide support and input to NPD projects and other Industry 4.0 projects being run by the advanced manufacturing team
- work with 3rd parties and other JC departments to develop, manufacture and implement new product designs that leverage advanced manufacturing capabilities to meet the needs of John Crane customers or otherwise
- attend seminars, conferences and exhibitions to keep abreast of, and report on the latest developments in advanced manufacturing technology
- additional duties as assigned
- providing day-to-day shop-floor support in improving manufacturing/operational processes, management of non-conformance, and corrective action processes
- investigate, assess & report on the feasibility of various types of new advanced manufacturing equipment, software and processes that are available on the market
