you will be responsible for the fire engineering analysis of exciting projects involving new and existing buildings
you will work on a wide range of buildings such as high-rise office buildings, large retail complexes and airport developments, each providing unique challenges in developing an innovative fire engineering strategy
you will be tasked with analysing fire growth, means of escape, structural fire resistance and smoke control by various methods including computer modelling software such as Computational Fluid Dynamics
the preparation of technical reports and liaising with our clients, who include some of the largest building developers in the country, is an important part of your role
graduated within the last 2 years with or expect to receive a Masters Degree within a Fire Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace and or Physics discipline

carrying out active and passive fire protection systems surveys and technical reports
updating the passive fire protection technical knowledge base
assist with quality assurance processes and validation as required
undertaking third party oversight role of fire stopping and fire compartmentation installations
undertaking visual only fire doors surveys
managing your own client base and exceeding client expectations
compliance assessment and understanding of the main British fire safety legislation and standards applied to different building occupancies, such as Approved Document B , BS9999, BS7974 etc
providing in-house CPD presentations when the need arises in your specialist area
Requirements
degree educated in Building Surveying or other similar discipline
full UK driving licence and access to your own private vehicle
basic understanding of fire safety design and guidance for different building types
the ability to undertake works independently and manage your own workload as required
the ability to be coachable and develop your skillset further utilising the resources and expertise within the wider team
A basic knowledge of the fire risk assessment process and a general appreciation of general risk/hazards within the built environment
experience carrying out intrusive external wall surveys is desirable but not essential on a wide range of new and existing buildings such as high-rise residential, office buildings, large retail complexes and historic buildings
A general knowledge of construction methods, forms of construction, fire performance of external wall materials and associated cavity barriers installations

Requirements
master's degree or higher from an accredited university in Nuclear, Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical engineering
knowledge of PRA, HRA, internal and external hazard assessment, safety analyses and assessments, nuclear waste management and/or decommissioning is an advantage
you have relevant experience of working in an expert role related to nuclear safety and licensing
project management skills, including the ability to oversee multiple projects concurrently, would be advantageous in this role

experience in working on and managing different projects simultaneously, and handling ambiguities and project uncertainties
experience in nuclear power plant engineering, nuclear plant systems, licensing, operations, advanced nuclear technologies and SMR's, or similar technical areas is highly desirable

working mainly in an expert role related to nuclear safety and licensing. The work may also include technical project management tasks
support PRA modelling, PRA applications, Human Reliability Analysis and hazard assessment

participating in Business Development activities
