- to analyze and interpret patient test results
- to explain the implications of eye conditions, treatment options, medication, and possible side effects to patients
- to advise patients on the appropriate care for their eye conditions
- to keep accurate patient health records and write to GPs and other professionals regarding patient progress and outcomes
- to perform a comprehensive range of clinical assessments for pre- operative cataract patients, working autonomously and making clinical decisions using own judgement and initiative
- ensure information collected enables Independent Health Group provide information for the Cataract National Audit
- to identify new or deteriorating conditions, carry out relevant tests in line with established pathways and refer patients to an ophthalmologist where necessary
- to work within the requirements of the code of practice and standard of the College of Optometrists and General Optical Council
