Working hours

Responsibility
- design and development of battery products from R&D conception through to product using Ilika’s NPI process
- lead the development of battery architectures, materials and processing steps to enable product development specifications
- define and implement characterisation and teardown activities to maximise learning
- collaborate with quality team to ensure QMS requirements are upheld, and quality driven approach applied to product development
- lead design reviews, communicate ideas and solutions, influence decisions and problem solving
- we are looking for a Principal/Senior Battery Engineer to join our team. This position will work at a senior level in a team of battery engineers/scientists supporting Ilika’s solid-state battery development roadmap
- actively support customer and partner interactions, sales & marketing when required
- train new users and develop skills within the battery team
Requirements
- well-developed understanding of secondary battery chemistry, cell design, cell production, and material and battery characterisation with particular emphasis on lithium-ion chemistry
- significant industrial experience working within a lithium-ion battery production environment
- experience in a range of characterisation techniques e.g. Raman, XRD, SEM, DSC/TGA etc
- ability to select chemistry, materials and processes to improve product performance
- possess a proven track record of developing novel and successful solutions to complex technical issues
- excellent interpersonal and communication skills along with the ability to effectively coach and mentor others
- expert knowledge in batteries for IoT, automotive, industrial or medical applications is highly desirable
- demonstrated ability to work well in a team both as a leader and a member
