Working hours

Responsibility
- support the smooth day-to-day running of the lab; cleaning and organising work areas, washing and preparing equipment and reagents
- you will assist with the maintenance of the cell culture/molecular biology laboratory, instrumentation, supplies and consumables
- assisting with experiments according to specific protocols
- working with internal parties to optimise and standardise catalyst production procedures
- taking a role in lab management and safety procedures
- maintenance of chemical and biological inventories via electronic databases
- regular stock-take and ordering consumables
- equipment maintenance
Requirements
- knowledge of standard protein production and purification techniques using E. coli with good laboratory techniques, practices and safety requirements
- experience working in a multi-disciplinary team
- an interest in working with enzyme systems
- A commitment to sustainable chemistry
- excellent track record of keeping lab records, safety documentation and awareness of intellectual property considerations
- strong attention to detail – diligent and organised with the ability to accurately record data
- ideally you will have a degree in Chemistry, Industrial Biotechnology, Biology, or related area but we will consider applicants with A-level in Biology or Chemistry if combined with >5 years lab experience
- good communication skills – e.g. able to liaise with contractors/engineers and accurately communicate with company scientists regarding experiments and results
