Responsibility

  • to routinely monitor the rescue-dogs’ health and take appropriate action
  • to conduct Behavioural & Characteristic Assessments and Reviews of all rescue-dogs
  • to groom rescue-dogs where required and to maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene within the Kennels areas of the Sanctuary
  • to liaise with members of public who express an interest in re-homing a rescue-dog
  • to manage the care of rescue-dogs with patience and kindness and to work with them to gain their trust and confidence, making the outcome of re-homing more likely
  • to ensure all equipment used in the Kennels is maintained in a safe and satisfactory condition
  • to lead developing a team working ethos; manage staff rotas, holidays and sickness absence; cover shift absences including outside normal working hours, bank holidays and weekends where necessary; train, new and existing staff and volunteers in all company processes
  • to administer appropriate medical treatments to rescue-dogs under the guidance of the Sanctuary’s Veterinary Surgeon and to transport sick dogs or dogs requiring veterinary treatments to external vets

  • de cobwebbing all areas including the barns, vet unit and welfare facilities
