HALFORDS is looking for employees for positions:
product designer
Responsibility
- development of own brand bicycles and E-bikes – including frame design, specifications and control of colours and visuals
- deliver imaginative, creative designs translating user and technical requirements into meaningful, exciting designs, concepts or proposals
- create 3d designs and 2d drawings for evaluation and production
- balancing the often-opposing pulls of customer value, performance and margin
- create and control the specifications of each individual product ensuring margin requirements are achieved
- be the specification expert – understand and lead the technical specifications and how these relate to the customer’s requirements
- work closely with the Head of Design and the commercial/buying team to plan and develop the right range for each brand and category
- collaborate with the buying team and HGS to optimise our sourcing strategy
Requirements
- A good degree in a design, creative or technical subject
- minimum of 3 years’ experience in product design, development, or product management role
- A very high level of commercial awareness
- A technical understanding of electric systems, and batteries is ideal but not essential
- experience in designing frames in both aluminium and carbon
- experience and competence with 3d/2d design systems like Solidworks
- an expert in market knowledge, and able to anticipate future trends
- team worker, with experience of working with a multi-level, multi-disciplined team
