Requirements

  • AAT level 4 or equivalent financial qualification
  • minimum of 3 years of recent and relevant management experience working in a financial and payroll business environment
  • A minimum of 5 years of recent experience managing a team or CMI Level 5 or equivalent Management and Leadership Qualification
  • experience in leading a financial team and managing staff and all aspects of their development
  • experience in accountability for IT issues surrounding Finance Systems, for example as a system administrator
  • experience running an end-to-end payroll process using Sage 50 Payroll including pension and year-end processes. Up to date with current legislation
  • ability to work well under pressure, promoting a positive target-focused attitude. Embrace the idea of change & promote a positive image
  • excellent and extensive working knowledge of Sage 50 Accounts including bank reconciliations, supplier and sales Ledger, VAT, products and services and stock control. Including month/year-end process up to trial balance

Responsibility

  • providing assurance that appropriate internal controls are in place that contribute towards the creation of an organisational culture that manages risks
  • provide support to the Head of Finance & HR on planning, forecasting and budgeting
  • to manage the work of the Finance team to ensure that agreed departmental and personal objectives are successfully achieved and all tasks are completed on time for month-end and year-end reporting purposes
  • contribute to the achievement of Gnaws Business Plan objectives by delivering an efficient, effective, and comprehensive financial service and ensuring the team is proactive in supporting all areas of the business
  • providing efficient and effective management and financial accounting, forecasting, modelling, and financial analysis which promotes the best use of resources using Value for Money principles
  • provide robust financial information that empowers the Senior Management Team to make the best decisions for the future financial sustainability of the business
  • oversee and set performance objectives and evaluate the performance of the team
  • HR: With support from the Head of Finance & HR ensure that all company HR policies and procedures are adhered to and reviewed in line with legislation
