Responsibility

  • this is a full-time, permanent, in-studio role based in Portsmouth, UK
  • work with designers and front-end developers to deliver new features, both in and around the game
  • hands-on installation, maintenance, and administration of Windows and Linux-based systems across a highly available, public-facing environment
  • this role offers a unique hybrid experience of online system administration and backend development, presenting a golden opportunity for those looking to break into the gaming industry and actively contribute to game code development
  • perform routine system maintenance, when needed, to resolve issues
  • the successful candidate will be responsible for developing backend features, under the guidance of senior server developers, while also aiding in the maintenance and integration of online systems supporting our games
  • perform patching and support server migrations as needed
  • robocraft 2 uses several cutting-edge programming technologies within Unity including Unity’s DOTS , Havok Physics, as well as proprietary technologies

Requirements

  • bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Software Engineering/Information Systems or similar experience
  • hands-on experience with databases, particularly MySQL or MariaDB
  • experience with Object Oriented Programming, e.g. C# / Java / Go, etc
  • experience with front-end programming and knowledge of HTML / CSS / JavaScript, etc
  • meticulous and well organised
  • respect for deadlines and be a team player
  • proactive and able to prioritise tasks and manage your time effectively
  • experience with Linux: e.g. Ubuntu, CentOS or Debian, etc
