Responsibility
- the Transport Manager ensures that all tour transportation is contracted, coordinated and managed so that our tours operate smoothly
- they are responsible for ensuring company-wide compliance with various legal obligations associated with the transportation function
- they will oversee a small, office-based transport team as well as a team of approximately 20 drivers
- contract coach suppliers and negotiate preferable rates, terms and conditions
- create and maintain coach schedules, sometimes working 1- 2 years in advance
- schedule coaches and drivers for upcoming seasons together with the Operations Manager, Procurement Manager, and crew team
- work closely with the crew team on the recruitment and training of drivers
- ensure that all coach and driver-related provisions are in place including driver health checks, fuel cards, toll boxes, safety checks and routine maintenance, new vehicle purchases, coach branding, etc
Requirements
- experience with coach travel in Europe and other key destinations
- experience in a similar role within transport management, coach tour operations or international coach driving
- excellent and up-to-date knowledge of the UK and European driving and coach legislation
- experience in managing a fleet of coaches and drivers
- excellent problem solving skills and the ability to work well under pressure to make calm and informed decisions
- mathematical, analytical and technically-minded
- excellent communication and relationship building skills
- excellent organisational skills and the ability to meet targets
