DEFENCE SYSTEMS is looking for employees for positions:
mechanical fitter
Responsibility
- undertaking a full programme of training under direct supervision to becoming a Mechanical Fitter
- receiving and carrying out work instructions from the MRO Manager
- booking time worked to the correct cost code using the company’s ERP system
- recording survey results
- training and supporting other personnel within the MRO and Fitting areas when own training is complete
- any other such duties that may be reasonably compatible with the nature and scope of the Role
- surveying, building and manufacturing items from component level to sub-assembly level through to assembly of complete systems under direct supervision
Requirements
- A skilled, experienced mechanical fitter. Machine builder, assembly technician
- completed a recognised apprenticeship as a Mechanical Fitter, Machine Builder, Assembly Technician or similar
- be educated to a minimum of NVQ / City & Guilds level 3 in a relevant discipline
- able to read and fully understand technical engineering drawings for assembly and component parts
- must have excellent bench fitting skills using a variety of hand and electric tools
- have the ability to use precision measurement equipment such as Micrometers, Vernier’s and Slip Gauges
- experience in using lifting and slinging equipment
- be a good team player with the ability to work using own initiative when required
