Responsibility
manage the behaviour of pupils whilst they are undertaking work
collect any completed work after the lesson and return it to the appropriate teacher
report back as appropriate using agreed referral procedures on the behaviour of pupils during the class, and any issues arising
supervise pre-prepared activities and self-directed learning in the short-term planned / unplanned absence of teachers to provide continuity of learning for pupils
prepare the classroom/outside areas for lessons, ensuring that resources are available and cleared away at the end of the lessons as appropriate
Requirements
knowledge of procedures for supervising pre-prepared learning activities, providing feedback
ability to apply behaviour management policies and strategies which contribute to a purposeful learning environment
specialist knowledge of behaviour management
knowledge and compliance with policies and procedures relevant to child protection and health and safety
successful recent experience of working with children of relevant age

to oversee the Assistant Gardeners/Groundsmen on a day-to-day basis ensuring that they work in a safe manner and to the standards as agreed with the Estate Manager
to assist with the non-grounds tasks as and when required by the Estate Manger

to report all building fabric defects to the Estate Manager

to be prepared to undertake personal and professional development in agreement with the Estate Manager

Requirements
previous knowledge of using various cleaning machines desirable but not essential as training will be given

Responsibility
thoroughly disinfect bathroom areas. Clean sinks, toilets, showers and baths
including a rolling programme of steam cleaning bathrooms and hard floors every other term
remove rubbish from studies and common areas
clean the Head of House and Resident Tutor’s accommodation on a weekly basis
cleaning and clearing of studies and common areas including Common Room, lobby, games room, kitchen, corridors and stairs. Polishing, disinfecting, vacuuming carpeted areas and mopping hard floors
maintain in-house laundry throughout the shift using washing machines and tumble dryers, hanging clothes where necessary. Folding and allocating clean clothes back to the students
assist with the preparation and service of special functions
have responsibility of the house phone in the Matron’s absence, answer queries and take messages where necessary
