Responsibility
conduct market research to identify potential suppliers, evaluate their capabilities, and maintain a comprehensive supplier database
source and obtain competitive quotes from suppliers, ensuring compliance with project requirements and specifications
negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers, including pricing, delivery schedules, and quality standards
collaborate with project managers, and engineers to identify project needs and ensure the availability of required materials and equipment
continuously monitor market trends, prices, and availability of materials, and make recommendations for cost savings and process improvements
maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and supplier information in accordance with company policies and procedures
review and analyse supplier performance, including delivery times, quality of goods, and pricing, and take necessary actions to address any issues or concerns
Requirements
proven experience as a Construction Buyer or in a similar procurement role within the construction industry
solid knowledge of construction materials, equipment, and supplier networks
strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills
excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers and internal staff
proficiency in using procurement software and MS Office applications
knowledge of industry regulations, compliance standards, and best practices
highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
