Responsibility
- conduct market research to identify potential suppliers, evaluate their capabilities, and maintain a comprehensive supplier database
- source and obtain competitive quotes from suppliers, ensuring compliance with project requirements and specifications
- negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers, including pricing, delivery schedules, and quality standards
- collaborate with project managers, and engineers to identify project needs and ensure the availability of required materials and equipment
- continuously monitor market trends, prices, and availability of materials, and make recommendations for cost savings and process improvements
- maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and supplier information in accordance with company policies and procedures
- review and analyse supplier performance, including delivery times, quality of goods, and pricing, and take necessary actions to address any issues or concerns
Requirements
- proven experience as a Construction Buyer or in a similar procurement role within the construction industry
- solid knowledge of construction materials, equipment, and supplier networks
- strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers and internal staff
- proficiency in using procurement software and MS Office applications
- knowledge of industry regulations, compliance standards, and best practices
- highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
