Responsibility
- PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Clinical and Professional standards Provides high quality care to patients and their families during the perioperative period
- reporting and documenting all relevant patient needs, communicating changes to other health professionals in the multidisciplinary team
- maintains a safe environment when caring for patients, including those patients requiring frequent levels of monitoring
- is able to prioritise patient care, recognise deterioration in a patients condition and alert senior staff immediately
- maintains accurate, contemporaneous, and legible written records of care where required and accurately completes the perioperative care plan
- act as Practitioner in charge, in the absence of the Theatre coordinator ensuring efficient allocation of staff and resources
- to engage and interact with patients and their carers, explaining procedures and treatments to gain co-operation, understanding and relieve any apprehension
- participate in the evaluation of patient outcomes, including audit, risk management and infection control
