Responsibility

  • support individuals with learning disabilities in their daily activities, fostering independence and enabling them to participate in community engagement
  • develop and implement person-centered support plans, tailored to meet the unique needs and goals of each individual
  • assist individuals with learning disabilities in developing and maintaining social relationships, encouraging their participation in community events and activities
  • support individuals in developing life skills, such as budgeting, meal planning, and domestic tasks, promoting their self-sufficiency
  • encourage and facilitate access to educational, vocational, and recreational opportunities, empowering individuals to explore and pursue their interests

  • document and maintain accurate records of support provided, including progress notes, incident reports, and any significant observations or changes

Requirements

  • A genuine passion for supporting individuals with learning disabilities and promoting their independence and well-being
  • excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with individuals, their families, and colleagues
  • patience, empathy, and understanding, coupled with a non-judgmental approach towards individuals with learning disabilities
  • ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, contributing to a positive and collaborative working environment
  • flexible availability to work shifts, including weekends, as per the agreed schedule
  • although experience is not required, prior experience in a similar role would be desirable
  • willingness to undergo training opportunities, including the possibility of attaining a QCF qualification in social care
  • training opportunities will be provided to successful candidates
