- ensuring staff shadow shifts are scheduled and dates for these given to new staff in Meet the Manager meetings
- Be prepared to work flexibly to ensure the safe delivery of the service
- this is an exciting opportunity for a Registered Manager who will be initially leading the home through its Ofsted registration and then managing a home that will make a huge difference in the lives of children who have suffered trauma and abuse
- Manage the effective recruitment, induction and training of the coordinator , supervisor , care workers and other support staff
- undertaking risk assessments on staff where indicated or directed
- working pro-actively with recruitment and referrals and transitions to ensure thorough understanding of the needs of people using the services and the related skills, values, knowledge and experience requirements of staff
- Undertake training and development to keep up to date with the law, best practice and changes in company policy. Apply this knowledge to day to day management and delivery of care
- Identify ongoing training needs and ensure staff are up to date with current best practice
- Ensure there are sufficient numbers of suitably qualified staff allocated appropriately to meet service needs at all times
- Understand and monitor health and safety in the workplace and in the field. Act as lead for infection prevention and control
- working pro-actively with the training providers to ensure all new and existing staff are fully compliant before their first shift and that training is updated in line with compliance requirements throughout their employment
- Maintain full and accurate records and reporting systems in accordance with legal requirements and to ensure the effective running of the business
- Implement company policy and procedures in relation to managing absence, disciplinary, capability and grievance matters
- being a key part of the induction of new staff by facilitating Meet the Manager sessions which build on company induction days to deepen knowledge and understanding of the role, giving staff clear information about their roles and responsibilities, relevant legislation and the organisational policies and procedures they must follow in their work
- Implement quality management and improvement systems. Effectively manage complaints and incidents. Carry out investigations relating to the quality of the service and use findings to make improvements
- Provide information, guidance and ongoing supervision to enable staff to effectively and safely carry out their roles
- ensuring Care Act observations are planned in and take place within 12 weeks of staff starting Actively managing the performance of staff including through induction, probation, supervisions and appraisals to ensure high quality services and care
- Carry out appraisals and monitoring of staff performance Ensure all emergency on-call issues are dealt with effectively, such as covering calls either directly or indirectly when care workers are sick or absent
- as a registered manager, you'll be responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day operations within the supported living setting, including recruiting and managing staff, managing budgets and ensuring that the quality of the services provided meets national care standards
Requirements
- recent experience working either as a Children's Home Registered Manager or as a Children's Home Deputy Manager in a Children's Home
- level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management
- level 4 Diploma for Children, Young People, and Families Practitioner
