The London Irish Centre is a unique organisation. It was established in 1955 to provide support for young Irish emigrants in London. Its role has developed significantly over the decades with it offering a whole range of services as well as cultural and social events which keep the traditions of Ireland alive for this ex pat community.The Board of Trustees has approved an ambitious multi-million-pound capital build project to create a new state-of-the-art Culture and Arts Centre on the existing site which will be of global significance. This is to ensure it is a fit-for-purpose building which is easily accessible and environmentally sound, providing a fantastic venue for Community Service, Arts and Cultural activities. This is supported by the Irish Government as it is part of their “Global Ireland 2025” strategy.A new strategy is also under development to ensure that services reflect modern day needs. This includes a focus on education to promote Ireland & Irish culture to London audiences as well as keep Irish heritage alive for future generations.A new CEO, Séamus MacCormaic, was appointed last year. His strategy to deliver on LIC’s ambitions has resulted in the creation of the role of Chief Finance Officer to provide robust management at the top tier of the organisation. This person will oversee all financial management as well as the operational running of all facets of the business, both commercial and charitable. The CFO will also be the second in command, deputising for the CEO when required.We are looking for someone with extensive and senior experience in a similar role. You need not necessarily have a third sector background nor have Irish heritage provided you are aligned with LIC’s values and mission. You would ideally be a CA or have a CCAB qualification but your parallel professional experience is more important. Known for its innovation in homeless accommodation and incredibly successful social enterprises, Four Square offers a range of services across four main themes: accommodation, advocacy and advice, training and employment, enterprise and sustainability. Under the leadership of a new CEO, there is a new strategy, vision and ambition for the future. The sky is the limit both in terms of expanding the offer to people who need support and in taking the social enterprise models beyond Edinburgh. Key to the success is a recent re-structure of the charity, which has created a new leadership team and some new supporting roles. This role will work under the new Deputy CEO and will support the financial management of the charity. There are no specific qualifications required for this role beyond National 5 level Maths and English but you need to have experience of producing basic financial reports and exceptionally good attention to detail. You should have financial data entry and knowledge of SAGE in your skills set. You will have lots of variety to your day, fulfilling a range of duties, from producing financial reports to organising the collection and recording of housing benefit and service charges across residential services. You will be the point of contact for both internal and external enquiries and so will be a strong communicator with excellent organisational skills.
