Responsibility

  • we work with those whose behaviours and attitudes are considered a ‘challenge’, to themselves, their families, and the wider community
  • bringing Hope is a Christian charitable organisation working to support the transformation, development and rehabilitation of individuals and families impacted by the criminal justice system
  • we are looking for a member of staff to assist in the delivery and support of our Bringing Hope -Damascus Road Prison and Community ‘Second Chance’ Project, funded by the Big Lottery
  • the project is designed to engage, motivate, challenge and support those affected by serious violence, and their families in aspects of positive change and personal development
  • the post holder will therefore be involved in working with those affected by serious youth violence whose ages can range from as young as 14yrs old to 35yrs plus
  • supporting the project managers and coordinator in connecting individuals in prison as well as the wider community, addressing issues which could be a challenge to their successful re-integration back into the community or challenging behaviours within family relationships
  • to maintain accurate records e.g., support plans, day to day contact and activity logs

Education

  • GCSE or equivalent

Requirements

  • previous work with young people and families within a statutory or community context
  • desirable
  • ability to develop relationships with those affected by serious violence and their families
  • minimum of two years’ experience working across multidisciplinary sectors and community development
  • essential
  • ability to train small groups of offenders and ex-offenders and their families
  • educated to degree level or equivalent experience
  • ability to work within a team
