Responsibility

  • to lead on design and delivery of high quality lighting designs for traffic schemes, new developments and other such schemes
  • use of AUTOCAD, specialist lighting packages and the Microsoft suite of packages
  • to manage the lighting requirements at pedestrian crossings Responsibility for facilitating the use of equipment for electric vehicle connections, CCTV, Telecom installations, advertising banners, air monitors and other 3rd Party attachments to the Council’s infrastructure, including the preparation and agreement of contractual arrangements
  • to assess lighting levels in the borough, ensuring they meet the required levels of lighting for the location and implement any changes required.Qualifications should be bulleted
  • staff management duties relating to the Traffic & Lighting Team, including the recruitment, training, development, mentoring, appraisal and conduct of staff; attend selection panels; assist in monitoring attendance and sickness absence, manage performance and other duties as directed

Requirements

  • qualification in Engineering / Transportation / Highways/Electrical to degree level or equivalent with successful high quality post qualification experience
  • OR Proven track record of successful high quality professional engineering experience in one or more specialist engineering areas of the service
  • ability to assist with the management of a Private Finance Investment lighting
  • ability to negotiate on behalf of the council, e.g. on major lighting schemes
  • ability to develop workable and innovative solutions in problem solving situations, including the ability to analyse complex resource, managerial problems and develop strategic, creative and practicable solutions
  • electrical Engineering: 3 years
  • an understanding of the principal responsibilities of, and the key issues facing, local government and in particular the legal and professional framework associated with Engineering and Traffic matters
  • ability to implement and maintain management and administrative systems, including IT systems and performance review systems, necessary for the delivery of cost effective, high quality services, including the use of IT applications
