Responsibility
- plan, organize, and coordinate a variety of activities and events for residents in a care facility
- develop and implement activity programs that promote physical, mental, and emotional well-being
- assess residents' interests, needs, and abilities to create personalized activity plans
- lead group activities such as exercise classes, arts and crafts, games, and social events
- coordinate outings and trips for residents to local attractions or community events
- collaborate with other staff members to ensure the smooth operation of activities
- maintain records of resident participation and evaluate the effectiveness of programs
- note: This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. The Activities Director may perform other related duties as assigned by management
Requirements
- previous experience working in a similar role in a care facility or related field is preferred
- DBS check - This will be covered by the employer after successful completion of training
- knowledge of therapeutic recreation principles and techniques is a plus
- day shift patterns are 8am – 2pm 2pm - 8pm
- strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with residents, families, and staff members
- some flexibility to do overtime when required
- ability to plan and organize activities that cater to a diverse group of individuals with varying abilities and interests
- understanding of the unique needs of elderly individuals or those with disabilities
