Requirements
- preferably a UK qualified teacher with PGCE or equivalent
- experience working with students with autism or other developmental disabilities
- knowledge of evidence-based practices for teaching and supporting students with autism
- excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- ability to work collaboratively with other professionals and parents/guardians
- the teacher may also be required to work in a variety of settings, including classroom, gymnasium, and outdoor environments
- flexibility and adaptability to changing situations and student needs
- patience, compassion, and empathy for working with students with special needs
Responsibility
- the role is 4 days per week
- provide one-on-one support to the student with autism in class and during activities
- work closely with the TA and other professionals to implement the student’s Individualised Education Program
- observe and document the student’s progress, behaviour, and academic achievements
- implement behaviour management strategies and interventions to address the student’s challenging behaviours
- provide assistance during transitions and changes in the student’s routine
- adhere to policies and procedures related to student safety and confidentiality
