Requirements

  • health and social work qualification at level three is essential and willingness to work towards level five if not already achieved
  • an ability to effectively engage, sustain and disengage with service users and their families
  • take responsibility for the safeguarding of adults and follow the organisations whistle blowing policy as required
  • an ability to develop productive working relationships between workers, the local community and other agencies
  • ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, and to produce a variety of information to aid decision making
  • an ability to provide for the day to day care needs of service users
  • supervisory skills, Recording skills
  • experience of working service users with a learning disability at a senior level in a residential setting. Experience of care work at a senior level. Experience of working proactively with service users who present with challenging behaviours

Responsibility

  • understand contents of fire folder and fire procedures in the Home. Support the Manager in ensuring that regular fire drills and training are carried out and recorded
  • understand the employer/employee requirements of Health and Safety legislation and support the Manager in ensuring compliance and training updates. Ensure own practice is updated in Emergency first aid, Food Hygiene
  • participation in staff meetings
  • undertake any other duties appropriate to the post. Attending to practical matters in relation to promote a holistic care package and duties that may from time to time be required by the Registered Manager
  • refer concerns and difficulties to Manager as appropriate
  • health and Safety To be responsible for your own health and safety and that of anybody else who your acts or omissions may affect
  • attending and contributing to regular supervision sessions in line with the relevant standards
  • understand the requirements of good housekeeping and report concerns through the appropriate channels
