Working hours

  • full-time

Education

  • certificate of Higher Education
  • at least 5 years’ post-qualification experience working in an EYFS setting
  • NNEB level 3, CACHE Level 3, NVQ Level 3, Early Years Education and Childcare qualification level 3 or equivalent
  • extensive knowledge of the EYFS and of high quality early years’ practice including statutory requirements
  • paediatric first aid certified and awareness of food hygiene standards
  • safeguarding certified and awareness of health and safety risk assessments
  • enhanced DBS police check

Requirements

  • understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage’s welfare, learning and development requirements
  • understanding of child safety practices including paediatric first aid, safeguarding children and food hygiene
  • leadership, including the ability to motivate others and effective decision-making
  • written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills for building relationships with staff, parents and board of trustees
  • experience of working with or caring for children in a variety of early years’ settings
  • familiarity with Google Workspace applications eg Gmail, Google Docs, Google Sheets and Google Drive
  • excellent organisational, numeracy and literacy skills and able to meet deadlines
  • excellent working knowledge of the EYFS and current OFSTED statutory guidance

Responsibility

  • plan and organise an age-appropriate play and educational activities in a safe, secure and stimulating environment
  • support the development of good practice with regards to special needs children and their inclusion
  • create and maintain a culture of self evaluation and reflective practice throughout the nursery
  • ensure that each child’s potential is fully developed in a social, physical, psychological and cultural sense and their development both as an individual and as a member of a group is paramount at all times
  • maintain effective methods of communication with children, staff, parents and carers. Attend meetings as and when required
  • ensure that up to date and accurate records are properly maintained of attendance register, accident/incident book, risk assessments and that written record of observations/assessments of the children are entered in the “Babysdays” software on a daily basis
  • support the manager in disciplinary and grievance investigations, hearings and resolving complaints
  • adhere to and ensure policies and procedures on health and safety, emergency and security, risk assessments and and safeguarding are top priority and fire drills are regularly practised
